PETE ROCK

Pete Rock first exploded onto the music scene in the late eighties as a DJ on New York radio station WBLS' "In Control with Marly Marl," which aired every Friday and Saturday night. With a solid fan base behind him, Pete decided he wanted to expand his musical talents, so in the early 90's Pete began producing. Not content with being a producer and DJ, Pete hooked up with long time friend and rapper CL Smooth in 1991. The rest as they say is history.

With the release of the EP All Souled Out in 1991 and two full length albums Mecca & The Soul Brother in 1992 and Main Ingredient in 1994, Pete Rock & CL Smooth became a major force in the rap community. While riding high on their success, Pete Rock & CL Smooth shocked their fans and the music industry by deciding to go their separate ways in 1994.

While promoting an EP and two albums, Pete continued to work on his producing skills. Pete Rock gained production notoriety with the re-mix to Public Enemy's "Shut 'Em Down", in 1991-92. With fullproduction credits on Mic Geronimo-"Unstoppable", Common Sense-"The Bitch In You", Run DMC-"Down With The King", re-mix credits on Monica-"Before You Walk", Jamal-Fades "'Em All", Naughty By Nature-"Hip Hop Horray", EPMD/LL Cool J-"Rampage" and soundtrack credits for Menace To Society-"Death Becomes You", Who's The Man-"What's Next On The Menu" and Poetic Justice-"One In A Million", you would think that Pete Rock was satisfied. But, he wasn't.

In 1995 Chris LaMonica, National Director of Mix Shows at Loud Records hooked up with Pete who was now the DJ for Future Flavas with Marly Marl on Hot 97. From building a promotional relationship with Pete, Chris was able to bring the talent of Pete Rock to Loud, which resulted in the birth of a solo career. Together Pete Rock and Chris are producing an album to "set you straight."

Pete's debut solo album on Loud Records is scheduled to be released in the summer of 1998. Though, Pete doesn't have a title for his album, the album will feature guest appearances from Raekwon (Wu Tang Clan), The Roots, OC, Rob-O, Black Thought (The Roots), CL Smooth and Kool G Rap.

TWO FRESH

Two Fresh consists of twin brothers Sherwyn and Kendrick Nicholls and is accompanied live by drummer Colby Buckler. The twins have been making music since their freshman year of high school. In early December 2008 they added Colby on drums for the live setting. Collectively, they keep the whole place moving with a sound that fuses hip-hop and jazz with the intensity of uniquely styled live drums.

Two Fresh has come along way since grasping their sound. In October of 2009 the duo released their first EP "Baker's Dozen" on 1320 records. In January of 2010 they started LabCoat, a collective of artists out of Asheville, North Carolina, including Jables and Bookworm, who began experimenting with the use of collaborations in an effort to push the boundaries of all musical aspects. Aside from their studio work, Two Fresh has built a massive following with their constant touring.

MACHINEDRUM

The prolific producer, born Travis Stewart on March 4, 1982, Machinedrum has produced and composed several albums under various aliases since his first independent release in 1999. His debut, ‘Now You Know’, was released in 2001 on the influential Miami-based Merck Records and gained worldwide attention and praise from musicians, fans and critics in the IDM scene. It was heralded as the “standard to which the next wave of imitators aspires” by the almighty Pitchfork.

Having a strong background in both acoustic and electronic instrumentation, he dances between those elements on all his releases. This can be heard in the field recording and vintage synth laden ‘Urban Biology’ to his seminal production and mixing of the ‘This Charming Mixtape’ with Theophilus London. His critically acclaimed 2009 album ‘Want to 1 2?’ was another showcase of his most recent production. In 2010, Machinedrum released ‘Many Faces’ EP on Scottish label LuckyMe.

Under the name Sepalcure, he’s also released two EP’s - ‘Love Pressure EP’ and ‘Fleur EP’ - on Hotflush with friend and collaborator Praveen Sharma - a sound they describe as “an exploration of chopped up 90’s diva house acapellas and wooden sounding snares reminiscent of UK funky and dubstep”. He also saw the EP single release of ‘Let It’, one of the standout songs from his 2009 ‘Want to 1 2?’ album, with upstart label Innovative Leisure. He also wrote the song ‘Outside the Lines’ with Praveen Sharma and recorded it under the name Sepalcure featuring Angelica Bess for the 2010 feature film Black Swan, though it is not featured on the official soundtrack to the film.
